CourierCop Help
Products and boxes
Weight is the most common reason for a wrong charge. To check a weight, CourierCop needs to know what each product weighs and what box it ships in. Product weights are on Setup → SKU weights (every plan). Boxes are on Setup → Products & boxes (Growth plan and above).
How the expected weight is worked out
- If you saved a packed weight for a SKU, that is used. It should include the box and filler.
- If not, the product weight from Shopify is used, plus the weight of the SKU's default box (Growth plan and above) or, if it has none, the default packaging from Settings (150 g unless you change it). This is a guess, so findings that depend on it get a lower confidence.
- If an order has several items, their weights are added up.
- The box size gives the volumetric weight. The courier charges the higher of the real weight and the volumetric weight. See the Glossary.
If a shipment has no weight at all, it cannot be checked and the finding is marked "Weight unknown". Findings that may come from a missing weight or box stay in Needs review until you fix the SKU.
The gap tiles
At the top of the page you see how complete your data is.
- SKUs missing weight - shipping SKUs with no weight from Shopify and no packed weight saved here. We cannot check their shipments.
- SKUs missing a box - shipping SKUs with no box size or default box. Without it we cannot work out the volumetric weight couriers charge for.
- Findings on hold - findings waiting for a weight or box.
Each tile also shows the share of your shipments the gap affects, so fix the SKUs that ship most first. The list is sorted by shipments in the last 90 days.
Set a weight or box for one SKU
- On Setup → SKU weights, find the SKU. Search by product, variant or SKU. Use Missing only to see just the gaps.
- Open its actions menu and click Add packaging.
- Enter the Packed weight in grams (include the box and filler) and/or the box size (length, width and height in cm). A box needs all three sizes.
- Save. Findings are rechecked in a few seconds.
The menu also has Choose boxes and Simulate shipping (Growth plan and above), and Delete packaging.
Set many SKUs at once
- Tick the SKUs, then click Set weight or Set box to give them all the same value.
- Or click Download template. It is a spreadsheet with one row per variant. Fill in the packed weight and box sizes, then click Import. XLSX or CSV, up to 5 MB. Blank cells keep what is saved. Rows with a problem are listed after the import, and the good rows are saved.
Boxes
Open Setup → Products & boxes and click to add a box (Growth plan and above). Enter:
- Name and the outside size: length, width and height in cm. These set the volumetric weight couriers charge for.
- Box weight.
- Max product weight - the most product weight this box should carry, not counting the box itself. Empty means no limit.
- Material (optional), for example corrugated or poly mailer.
- Cost per box (optional).
- Active - only active boxes can be chosen for SKUs.
With your boxes and their sizes, expected weights include the right box for each SKU, so checks are more accurate. You can also compare shipping costs across boxes and get box recommendations. These need the Growth plan or above.
A box that is the default for some SKUs cannot be deleted until those SKUs use another box.
Default packaging
In Settings, Default packaging is the grams added to a product's Shopify weight when it has no packed weight saved. Enter whole grams from 0 to 5,000.
Products that do not ship
If Shopify says a product does not need shipping but a courier billed it, the SKU shows "Shopify says this product doesn't ship, but a courier billed it". Check the product's setting in Shopify.
